Warmup: Folding Sarees

A man and his son are folding his wife’s saree whose length exceeds twice the largest wingspan between them. The son, frustrated by his inability to cleanly bisect the saree, instead chooses to fold the saree randomly. He instructs the father to hold upright the shorter edge of the saree, and stand sufficiently far away that the saree is taut. The son then iteratively folds, by choosing a random point on the hitherto unfolded (taut) section of the saree as the fold point of the next fold. How many folds need to performed per minute, so that with 95% chance, when his mother arrives in 5 minutes, atleast half the saree has been folded?
